rlm@0: Li was able to use the illusion card for the next day, the fake Sakura claiming
rlm@0: illness. Touya was suspicious, but Tomoyo finally convinced him that she would
rlm@0: keep an eye on her and tell him if she worsened.
rlm@0: “I don’t know how long we can keep this up…” Tomoyo whispered. Li rubbed his
rlm@0: bloodshot eyes and nodded in agreement.
rlm@0: “I have tried all my ideas….if the Kero cannot come up with something….” Li
rlm@0: stared at the floor. Tomoyo shook him by the shoulder to force him to look up.
rlm@0: “We will not stop until she awakens.” She stated confidently. Li smiled briefly.
rlm@0: “Of course.” He answered.
rlm@0:      Tomoyo turned back to the sleeping Sakura, noting the faintest of smiles on
rlm@0: her lips….the memory must be a good one, Tomoyo thought as she ran her fingers
rlm@0: lightly through Sakura’s hair. Tomoyo felt a little bad, relishing this moment
rlm@0: of closeness and savoring the softness of Sakura’s hair, while Sakura was under
rlm@0: a Card’s influence.  She let the strands slip through her fingers and fall onto
rlm@0: the pillow without a sound.
rlm@0: Sakura-chan……..
rlm@0: I love you…..Please come back to me…….

rlm@0:       Sakura walked behind Tomoyo and into the woods.
rlm@0: “Did you hear that?” Tomoyo hissed, reaching back and grabbing Sakura’s hand.
rlm@0: Sakura calmed herself, holding the hand of her beloved, and stepped closer.
rlm@0: “It’s nothing Tomoyo-chan….come on, the others will be waiting for us….” Sakura
rlm@0: grinned. Tomoyo frowned.
rlm@0: “I don’t like spooky things like this….do you believe in the mists?” The black
rlm@0: haired girl asked, now holding onto Sakura’s arm as they walked. 
rlm@0: “I guess so.”
rlm@0: “I hope nothing happens, nothing at all….” Tomoyo shuddered. Sakura hugged her
rlm@0: quickly.
rlm@0: “It will be fine, I’ll be there to protect you.”
rlm@0: 
rlm@0:  
rlm@0:        “Did you bring your lanterns?” Rika asked. The others nodded silently. 
rlm@0: “Now…light them and repeat this verse from the shrine….then the mists will be
rlm@0: released….” Rika announced. Everyone did as told. Sakura glanced at Tomoyo,
rlm@0: whose hand shook as she lit her candle, a soft blue surrounding her face and
rlm@0: showing her nervousness. Sakura was about to go over to her when someone
rlm@0: screamed out. 
rlm@0: “I saw something! Over there!” Chiharu pointed to the right of herself, the
rlm@0: densest part of the wood. Everyone started to grab their lanterns,  high pitched
rlm@0: voices and one girl was crying, all eager to leave before the mists got them.
rlm@0: Rika was trying to calm people, but to no avail.
rlm@0: Sakura watched the woods, looking for the mists….she wanted to see it, to know
rlm@0: for sure if it was real or not…She walked closer to the trees and noticed a
rlm@0: light, small and yellow, in the distance….should I go closer? Sakura wondered.
rlm@0: She took a small step and focused on the light….she listened for a sound….Sakura
rlm@0: walked  closer, feeling light headed….She placed a hand on a tree.
rlm@0: What is wrong? Why can’t I stay standing?
rlm@0: “Sakura!”
rlm@0: Someone is calling me….but why can’t I move? The light….it is getting closer…..
rlm@0: “Please, Sakura, answer me!”
rlm@0: Sakura tried to  turn and yell out, but the light was too bright for her to
rlm@0: think on anything else….A whisper slid past her ears, clear as a bell….
rlm@0: 
rlm@0: “We may never get her back…..” A soft voice echoed, followed by sobbing.
rlm@0: 
rlm@0: The next thing Sakura remembered was being dragged by her arm and being held
rlm@0: tightly. Sakura cleared her throat, trying to swallow….Tomoyo looked at her.
rlm@0: “Oh Sakura-chan….you scared me so! I called for you and could not find
rlm@0: you….don’t do that ever again! The others thought a spirit captured you and
rlm@0: I…I…” Tomoyo stopped, tears forming in her eyes. Sakura managed a smile, her
rlm@0: body not really responding to her commands.
rlm@0: “Don’t…cry…Tomoyo-chan….” She whispered. Tomoyo reached out and touched her
rlm@0: fingertips to Sakura’s cheek.
rlm@0: And they just stood there until Rika ran over to them.
rlm@0: “Sakura, I am so glad you are okay….” She said out of breath. “Did you see
rlm@0: something like Chiharu?”
rlm@0: Sakura tore her gaze from Tomoyo and nodded.
rlm@0: “Yes….”
rlm@0: 
rlm@0:  
rlm@0: **************
rlm@0: 
rlm@0:  
rlm@0:        Tomoyo left a note and hoped no one would get too angry, but Sakura had
rlm@0: to be somewhere safe until they could wake her. She told her mother that Sakura
rlm@0: would be staying for the entire weekend, but was too sick to do much…I hope this
rlm@0: works, Tomoyo worried as she settled Sakura under the blankets.
rlm@0: I get to sleep next to her….Tomoyo sighed and slipped under the covers, watching
rlm@0: Sakura in her slumber.
rlm@0: So beautiful….My Sakura….my cherry blossom….
rlm@0: Tomoyo snuggled closer and brought her lips to Sakura’s ear.
rlm@0: “I know you can hear me, Sakura-chan…..I’ll take care of you until you come back
rlm@0: to us….to me.” Tomoyo whispered, wrapping her arms around the girl’s waist and
rlm@0: drifting to sleep.
rlm@0:
