rlm@0: Ra's Daughters rlm@0: By rlm@0: Black Rose rlm@0: rlm@0: Chapter Eight- Hope of Ra rlm@0: rlm@0: Two days had gone by with no sign of the Priest. The city was very rlm@0: lively after the rain had come: the market was full of people and you rlm@0: could see fishing bouts out on the great river. Sanura was staring rlm@0: out of her bedroom window, smiling at the people below her. rlm@0: "Why do I get this feeling that he's not coming back for a long rlm@0: time?" she asked herself, somewhat relieved that the Priest was rlm@0: finally gone. rlm@0: The door to her room opened: she turned and saw Layla caring a try rlm@0: of food. Layla put the food on the table next to the bed then turned rlm@0: and wait for orders. The Priestess just smiled at her in return. rlm@0: "Layla, why don't you sit down? I'm not going to give you any orders." rlm@0: Layla bowed and sat on a chair next to the door then waited for rlm@0: something to do for the Priestess. Sanura walked over to her desk, rlm@0: sat down and started to write on some scrolls. Ra's Phoenix flew in rlm@0: through the window and landed on Layla's lap. rlm@0: "Well hello there," replied Layla as she smiled at the animal that rlm@0: saved her life. rlm@0: The three set in peaceful silence. You could hear the people talking rlm@0: out side. rlm@0: After a while the phoenix looked up at Layla. rlm@0: "Why don't you tell her how you feel?" the phoenix mentally asked her. rlm@0: Layla looked down at the bird and smiled a little,"I don't think rlm@0: that's a good idea; she's a Priestess and I'm just a low class rlm@0: worker." rlm@0: "I have a feeling that it won't matter to her; I believe she feels rlm@0: that same." rlm@0: Layla looked up at Sanura and then back to the bird in her lap. rlm@0: "Maybe, butr right now I'm happy to be with her this way." rlm@0: The firebird just nodded its head and looked over to the Priestess. rlm@0: Sanura felt that someone was watching her: she turned her head a rlm@0: little to see Layla looking at her and Ra's pet sitting on her lap. rlm@0: Her heart was betting very fast when she looked into Layla's eyes. rlm@0: Layla saw that the Priestess was looking at her and a blush rose in rlm@0: her cheeks. rlm@0: "Do you need something, Priestess Sanura?" she asked, hoping that rlm@0: she could do something for her. rlm@0: The Priestess smiled and thought about it but nothing came to mind. rlm@0: She put down what she was writing then got up and walked over to rlm@0: Layla. rlm@0: "Layla, could I ask you why you're by my side?" she asked kindly as rlm@0: she sat down on the bed facing her. rlm@0: Layla didn't know what to make of this; part of her was scared, but rlm@0: the other part of her always wanted to be with the Priestess. Tears rlm@0: began to fill her eyes and her face contorted into a mask of pain. rlm@0: "I'm sorry Priestess, I just… I just…" she couldn't keep from crying. rlm@0: Sanura turned to her, a sad yet understanding smile on her face. rlm@0: The next thing they knew, a beautiful song had filled the air. The rlm@0: women looked down and saw Ra's pet on the floor singing to them. The rlm@0: Phoenix wonderous song made the whole kingdom feel at peace. The rlm@0: people in the market stopped what they were doing and instead began rlm@0: to look for where the song was coming from. The birdsong was silenced rlm@0: as quickly and mysteriously as it had begun. In the Priestess' room rlm@0: two young ladies were looking at one and other. Their eyes were rlm@0: looking deep into each other's, and neither one of them knew what to rlm@0: do: one part of them wanted to run to each other arms and never rlm@0: leave… but then there was the other part, the part that was scared of rlm@0: being faced with rejection. rlm@0: As the two stared at one another, the firebird just kept looking rlm@0: back and forth: it couldn't take it anyone. The next thing the two rlm@0: women heard in their minds was laugher. They looked down at the bird rlm@0: and saw it on the floor, laughing in amusment at something that rlm@0: seemed to have escaped them both. rlm@0: "What are you laughing about?" Sanura asked. rlm@0: The Phoenix got back on its feet, flew onto the bed with them and rlm@0: then spoke. rlm@0: "Humans are so amusing, especially when two of them have feelings rlm@0: for each other, and neither has any idea what to do about" rlm@0: "What?" both women spoke at the same time, shocked by the Phoenix's rlm@0: revealtion. rlm@0: They looked at one another, started to blush and turned away from rlm@0: each other. Ra's pet phoenix laughed and flew out of the window in rlm@0: order to find her human and her human's lover. rlm@0: After a while, the Phoenix heard its master calling: it began to fly rlm@0: to Ra's Temple, taking a shortcut through Sanura's room, where the rlm@0: two women were still not looking at one another. Finally Layla looked rlm@0: over to the other girl and saw that she was looking out of the rlm@0: window. Layla got up then walked over and sat down next to the rlm@0: Priestess, who turned and looked at her. rlm@0: Sanura was in deep thought when she felt something on the bed with rlm@0: her. She turned her head and saw the very person she had been rlm@0: thinking about. She smiled at Layla, who smiled back in return. rlm@0: Layla was about to say something, but Sanura never give her a chance rlm@0: to, as she quickly kissed her. Layla was very shocked, never having rlm@0: expected that to really happen, but the shock soon wore off and she rlm@0: kissed the Priestess back. rlm@0: * rlm@0: The Phoenix fleq into the temple and landed on the floor next the rlm@0: eye of Ra. The eye started to glow and with a giant flash of light rlm@0: the firebird disappears. Ra was sitting on his throne with his wife rlm@0: next to him. Then a white flash of light appeared and his pet flew rlm@0: into the room and then landed on his shoulder. rlm@0: "You need to speak to me, my lord?" the Phoenix asked. rlm@0: "Thank you for coming; I know that you wanted to be with your human, rlm@0: but I have information about the Priest." rlm@0: His pet just nodded to show that she understood what he was saying. rlm@0: "It seems that he used a dark spell to put his soul into a black rlm@0: crystal, and sent it somewhere out of my land." rlm@0: "What about Anubis, doesn't he know were it is?" asked his pet. rlm@0: "It would seem that Anubis knew what he was doing, but he will not rlm@0: give any information," Ra's wife sighed. rlm@0: The Phoenix just turns its head to her and bows. rlm@0: "So what do we do? If it was a spell and his soul is in a crystal rlm@0: it's only a matter of time before he comes back to life." rlm@0: "That may be true true, but I have a plan," Ra looked at his pet and rlm@0: his wife and smiled. rlm@0: "To make sure that the people of the time have the power to stop rlm@0: him, we will be sending you and those two swords." rlm@0: Selkhet thought this through and looked back at her husband. rlm@0: "I think it would be a good idea if we left a little bit of your rlm@0: soul behind to help as well," she spoke up. rlm@0: "What do you have in mind, my dear?" Ra asked. rlm@0: "Well, I get this feeling that these girls have had more than one rlm@0: life together: if that's true then I would say that if we left some rlm@0: information down on earth them it could help them." rlm@0: Ra thought about it and then it came to him. rlm@0: "How about this? We leave a little bit of ourselves in a animal and rlm@0: that animal would watch over the person." rlm@0: "That's a great idea," replied his wife. rlm@0: "What do you think, my pet?" Ra asked the phoenix. rlm@0: "That will work: I will be off now and get those swords," she told rlm@0: them and with a flash of light she was gone rlm@0: Ra and Selkhet looked at one and other and smiled, then began to rlm@0: think about what animal they would use. rlm@0: * rlm@0: Back on Earth, Ramla was looking around for Nakia. After a while she rlm@0: found standing on one of the many balconies that overlooked the rlm@0: kingdom. rlm@0: "So this is where you have been hiding?" she laughed slightly as she rlm@0: spoke to her newfound lover. rlm@0: Nakia turned her head a little to see her princess looking at her rlm@0: with a loving smile. She was wearing one of her princess dress with a rlm@0: small crown with the symbols of Ra on it. rlm@0: She turned to the princess and bowed. rlm@0: " And why have you been looking for me, princess?" she asked, a hint rlm@0: of playfulness in her voice. rlm@0: Ramla giggled, "Well I woke up from my nap and couldn't find you, rlm@0: when I could have sworn that you were sleeping with me." rlm@0: Nakia blushed when she caught the double meaning in the princess' rlm@0: words. rlm@0: Ramla walked over to Nakia and kissed her. The kiss lasted a while, rlm@0: and when they broke apart the saw a beautiful bird fly up to them. rlm@0: They knew who it was- Ra's pet Phoenix. rlm@0: The firebird landed on the railing and bowed to her human and her rlm@0: human's lover. She then told them what their plan is now that they rlm@0: must deal once again with the priest. The two smiled and nodded. They rlm@0: then summoned their swords and handed them over to the bird. She rlm@0: thanked them and flew off into the sun. Nakia and Ramla smiled at one rlm@0: another and walked back into the Palace, thankful for this peace, rlm@0: even if it was destined only to last a short time. rlm@0: rlm@0: A/N-Well I finally got this story done, yay!
