    1.15 +“That’s it” Usa smiled evilly.
    1.16 +“Aww, not again.” Hotaru said exasperated. Usa had just beaten her 
    1.17 +(again) 
    1.18 +at cards.
    1.19 +“How do you always manage to beat me Usa-Chan?” Hotaru asked.
    1.20 +“I don’t know, I just can.” Usa said.
    1.21 +“OW!” Hotaru suddenly shouted out in pain, dropping all her cards. Usa 
    1.22 +moved 
    1.23 +forward to her friend.
    1.24 +“What is it?” she asked concerned. Hotaru closed her eyes and then 
    1.25 +opened 
    1.26 +them again.
    1.27 +“Nothing, don’t worry.” Hotaru answered. Usa did worry but could see 
    1.28 +that 
    1.29 +Hotaru didn’t want to talk.
    1.30 +“I have to go.” Hotaru said and got up. Usa got up too.
    1.31 +“I’m sorry.” Usa said. Hotaru looked shocked.
    1.32 +“Why are you apologising?”
    1.33 +“Well, if I didn’t insist you stay, you wouldn’t have been hurt.”
    1.34 +“Usa, I am not hurt.” Hotaru smiled at her friend and left the house. 
    1.35 +Hotaru 
    1.36 +ran down the driveway and turned slightly to wave at her friend. Usa 
    1.37 +waved 
    1.38 +back.
    1.39 +“Why don’t you tell me what’s wrong Hotaru-Chan?” Usa thought to 
    1.40 +herself.
    1.41 +Usa went inside and looked at the mass of cards that Hotaru had dropped 
    1.42 +in 
    1.43 +her sudden pain. Usa started to pick up the cards but stopped as she 
    1.44 +saw one 
    1.45 +of Hotaru’s schoolbooks. Usa flicked through it and saw something on 
    1.46 +the 
    1.47 +middle page, which should have been blank.
    1.48 +
    1.49 +It was in Hotaru’s handwriting and was slightly messy.
    1.50 +Usa hesitated but read it anyway.
    1.51 +It said:

    1.53 +I know it is useless to write this down but it is better than keeping 
    1.54 +it 
    1.55 +inside me.
    1.56 +I have been having terrible seizures again, worse than ever, and they 
    1.57 +always 
    1.58 +follow an incredibly sharp pain that tears through my body.

    1.60 +Usa looked up and remembered Hotaru shouting out in pain. She put two 
    1.61 +and 
    1.62 +two together and knew she left because she was going to have a seizure.
    1.63 +“HOTARU-CHAN!” Usa cried out as she ran out of the house and down the 
    1.64 +street 
    1.65 +calling Hotaru’s name. She didn’t know where she was going so she just 
    1.66 +let 
    1.67 +her feet lead her. Down alley after alley she ran. She skidded to a 
    1.68 +halt and 
    1.69 +looked down a dead end alley, it was Hotaru!
    1.70 +“Hotaru-Chan!” Usa cried and ran up to her friend. Hotaru was kneeling, 
    1.71 +breathing heavily. She looked at Usa shocked and cried out as the pain 
    1.72 +grew 
    1.73 +inside her.
    1.74 +“Help me Odango-Chan!” Hotaru cried. Usa was slightly shocked; Hotaru 
    1.75 +hadn’t 
    1.76 +ever called her that before. She felt her heart beat even harder.
    1.77 +“How, Hotaru-Chan?! How can I help you?!” Usa cried in despair.
    1.78 +“I Don’t Know.” Hotaru cried out between breaths.
    1.79 +Usa took out her ginzuishou and tried to help Hotaru but she was 
    1.80 +resisting 
    1.81 +the power of the ginzuishou somehow.
    1.82 +“I can’t help you!” Usa cried in complete despair. Hotaru started to 
    1.83 +gain 
    1.84 +control again and between deep breaths she asked
    1.85 +“How did you know where to find me?”
    1.86 +“I don’t know, my legs just took me here.” Usa replied.
    1.87 +“How did you know to come looking for me?” Hotaru asked and Usa looked 
    1.88 +away.
    1.89 +“Usa?”
    1.90 +“I am sorry Hotaru, I read that note in the middle of your work book.” 
    1.91 +Usa 
    1.92 +cried.
    1.93 +“Oh, Please don’t cry, my Odango-Chan.” Hotaru said gently. Usa looked 
    1.94 +up at 
    1.95 +her.
    1.96 +“Odango-Chan?” Usa whispered.
    1.97 +“Oh, Usa, I love you!” Hotaru cried, tears now staining both their 
    1.98 +faces. 
    1.99 +Usa just stared in shock but Hotaru thought that Usa was angry and ran 
   1.100 +away 
   1.101 +shouting
   1.102 +“Gomen Usa, Gomen (sorry).” Hotaru stopped when she reached the park 
   1.103 +and 
   1.104 +noticed that it was the same spot in which she had first met Usa.
   1.105 +“Gomennasai, Usa, and Domo Arigatou (I’m sorry, Usa, and thank you).” 
   1.106 +Hotaru 
   1.107 +said aloud and then fainted. Usa skidded round the corner just in time 
   1.108 +to 
   1.109 +hear what Hotaru had said.
   1.110 +“Hotaru-Chan! Don’t say things like that!” She ran forward and 
   1.111 +supported her 
   1.112 +friends head, She noticed how pretty Hotaru was as she saw her black 
   1.113 +hair 
   1.114 +mask her closed eyes,
   1.115 +“It sounds to much like a goodbye.” Usa looked over her friend and 
   1.116 +noticed 
   1.117 +that she wasn’t breathing,
   1.118 +“So, it was a good bye.” Usa cried. She leaned over her friend and 
   1.119 +kissed 
   1.120 +her softly on the lips and then again, but deeper, and more passionate.
   1.121 +“Aishiteru, Hotaru.” Usa cried and kissed her again. Hotaru’s chest 
   1.122 +started 
   1.123 +once again to rise and fall.
   1.124 +“Hotaru!” Usa cried.
   1.125 +“YOUR O.K!”
   1.126 +“Domo Arigatou.” Hotaru said.
   1.127 +“Iie, Domo Arigatou.” Usa replied and they kissed again, with the love 
   1.128 +of 
   1.129 +futures and pasts, also the present time, which they wished could last 
   1.130 +forever.

   1.132 +Later, Hotaru and Usa were at Hotaru’s house; Hotaru’s Mama’s and Papa 
   1.133 +were 
   1.134 +out.
   1.135 +“They won’t be back until tomorrow evening. So, we have all tonight and 
   1.136 +tomorrow alone.” Hotaru said slyly. Usa smiled but then became serious.
   1.137 +“Are you sure you are O.K?” She asked looking at Hotaru. Hotaru avoided 
   1.138 +her 
   1.139 +eyes and said
   1.140 +“Of course Usa, I am always fine around you. Would you like something 
   1.141 +to 
   1.142 +eat? It is getting to be about 9:00 (pm).” Usa sensed that her friend 
   1.143 +was 
   1.144 +lying but didn’t say anymore.
   1.145 +“Yeah! I am sooo hungry.” Usa replied. Hotaru tilted her head to one 
   1.146 +side 
   1.147 +and smiled at her friend.
   1.148 +“I will make dinner, you can go and watch T.V.” Hotaru said.
   1.149 +“Oh, can’t I help?” Asked Usa enthusiastically. Hotaru knew she only 
   1.150 +wanted 
   1.151 +to help but to put it bluntly; Usa didn’t mix well with the kitchen.
   1.152 +“That’s O.K Usa; I can do it.” Hotaru said. Usa looked sad but smiled 
   1.153 +and 
   1.154 +turned around, and then walked out.
   1.155 +Hotaru cooked a feast, A roast dinner that was fit for a king. Chicken, 
   1.156 +potatoes, parsnips, carrots and all sorts of side dishes.
   1.157 +
   1.158 +She called Usa and as she came in her eyes widened.
   1.159 +“You made all this?!” Usa asked in disbelief.
   1.160 +“Yes.” Hotaru said quietly and indicated to a chair. Usa sat down and 
   1.161 +started. Hotaru didn’t eat much but Usa didn’t notice, Hotaru smiled as 
   1.162 +Usa 
   1.163 +ate her weight in food.
   1.164 +“MMMMMMM” Usa muffled through her last mouthful.
   1.165 +“Where did you learn to cook like that?”
   1.166 +“I often watch Setsuna-Mama when she cooks and she helps me to cook 
   1.167 +sometimes too.” Hotaru smiled at the awestruck look on Usa’s face.
   1.168 +“Wow!” Hotaru said
   1.169 +“What?”
   1.170 +“It’s ten o’clock!”
   1.171 +“So?”
   1.172 +“It’s time for bed…” Hotaru finished and was wearing a sly and playful 
   1.173 +smile.
   1.174 +“Oh, O.K” Usa said.
   1.175 +“You go ahead while I clean up.” Hotaru said.
   1.176 +“O.K then, I’ll be waiting…” And with that Usa left the kitchen and 
   1.177 +went to 
   1.178 +Hotaru’s room. Hotaru finished clearing up and went upstairs. She got 
   1.179 +half 
   1.180 +way up the stairs when she had to stop. She backed up a few paces 
   1.181 +holding 
   1.182 +her chest in pain. She gasped for air and tried to call for Usa’s help 
   1.183 +but 
   1.184 +nothing came out. She tried to get to her room but as soon as she got 
   1.185 +her 
   1.186 +door she felt as if she was going to die of pain. She fell forwards 
   1.187 +into the 
   1.188 +door, it opened and Hotaru fell into her room.
   1.189 +“Hotaru-Chan!” Usa cried in shock.
   1.190 +“Why does this keep happening?!” Usa asked.
   1.191 +“I don’t know!” Hotaru cried out in pain.
   1.192 +“Please Usa, Call Michiru-Mama and Haruka-Papa and Setsuna-Mama!” 
   1.193 +Hotaru 
   1.194 +cried between breaths.
   1.195 +“I don’t know their number.” Usa said helplessly.
   1.196 +“On the dresser by the phone.” Hotaru managed before her attack got 
   1.197 +even 
   1.198 +worse, hardly allowing her to breath.
   1.199 +“I can’t leave you.” Usa cried.
   1.200 +“PLEASE!” Hotaru screamed in pain as it got worse and worse. Usa ran 
   1.201 +downstairs and picked up the phone, she was very scared but her hand 
   1.202 +was 
   1.203 +still steady as she dialled the number on the pink note.
   1.204 +“Hello?” It was Michiru.
   1.205 +“MICHIRU!”
   1.206 +“Usa?! What’s wrong?!”
   1.207 +“It’s Hotaru! She’s having a really bad fit! Please help us!”
   1.208 +“Hold on just a while longer, go to her, we will be there shortly 
   1.209 +thanks to 
   1.210 +Setsuna.”
   1.211 +“HURRY!”
   1.212 +Usa hung up and sprinted upstairs as fast as she could.
   1.213 +“HOTARU-CHAN! THEY ARE COMEING! HOLD ON!” Usa shouted and burst into 
   1.214 +her 
   1.215 +room, Hotaru was on her hands and knees.
   1.216 +“Usa-Chan…” Hotaru said and then everything around her went black.
   1.217 +“HOTARU-CHAN?!” Usa cried in complete despair.
   1.218 +“We’re here!” Setsuna said and they burst into the room, they saw Usa 
   1.219 +lying 
   1.220 +there holding the unconscious form of Hotaru.
   1.221 +“Let go, Usa.” Setsuna said and Usa did as she was told, Haruka picked 
   1.222 +Hotaru up and went to lie her on the bed but Hotaru’s body began to 
   1.223 +glow and 
   1.224 +powered up, Haruka was thrown backwards by the force of Hotaru’s light. 
   1.225 +Michiru ran to Haruka’s side. Setsuna transformed into Sailor Pluto 
   1.226 +“Pluto 
   1.227 +planet power, make up!” and grabbed Usa by the back, She held her 
   1.228 +talisman 
   1.229 +at arms length and it glowed. She pushed Usa back to Michiru and Haruka 
   1.230 +who 
   1.231 +held her tight. Setsuna’s Talisman set up a shied around them just as 
   1.232 +Hotaru’s Power exploded and everything in the room was demolished, 
   1.233 +except 
   1.234 +what was in the shield.
   1.235 +“What’s happening?” Usa cried. Setsuna ignored the question from Usa 
   1.236 +and 
   1.237 +Shouted at the outers.
   1.238 +“TRANSFORM!”
   1.239 +“Uranus planet power, make up!”
   1.240 +“Neptune planet power, make up!”
   1.241 +They transformed and so did Usa.
   1.242 +The four were unable to move the shield and didn’t have the power to 
   1.243 +hold 
   1.244 +the shield as well as prepare the sailor teleport and Setsuna couldn’t 
   1.245 +hold 
   1.246 +the shield as well as teleport them so they were stuck.
   1.247 +“We can’t keep this up forever!” Uranus exclaimed.
   1.248 +“What is happening to her?” Neptune asked Pluto.
   1.249 +“I don’t know.” Pluto said solemnly. The power emanating from Hotaru 
   1.250 +suddenly grew massively and the four senshi cried out in pain as they 
   1.251 +tried 
   1.252 +to hold the barrier. In a bright flash of light, Hotaru transformed 
   1.253 +into 
   1.254 +Sailor Saturn, without her transformation stick and without saying 
   1.255 +‘Saturn 
   1.256 +planet power, Make up!’
   1.257 +The four other senshi were completely confused.
   1.258 +“We can’t just stand here and let her destroy us!” Uranus shouted.
   1.259 +“But what can we do?! She is our daughter!” Setsuna cried out in pain 
   1.260 +as 
   1.261 +another power surge hit the shield.
   1.262 +“She wouldn’t want us to be destroyed, even if that meant her own 
   1.263 +demise.” 
   1.264 +Neptune said quietly, but even though it was quiet, everyone heard. 
   1.265 +Silent 
   1.266 +tears fell down Usa’s face but she knew that Michiru was right.
   1.267 +“O.K. Ready, and remember, we don’t want to destroy her, just knock her 
   1.268 +so 
   1.269 +she can’t use her powers.” Uranus said.
   1.270 +“O.K!” came the reply from the other three senshi. All at once they 
   1.271 +broke 
   1.272 +the shield and fired their attacks. All four attacks went forward and 
   1.273 +just 
   1.274 +as they were about to hit Sailor Saturn, they were all dispersed by her 
   1.275 +power. The same surge of power that destroyed the attacks was about to 
   1.276 +destroy the senshi when…
   1.277 +“MOON CRYSTAL POWER!!” Sailor moon arrived and set up a new shield to 
   1.278 +protect the senshi.  The shield was put up just in time as the surge 
   1.279 +hit and 
   1.280 +Sailor moon was forced back.
   1.281 +“Usa! I know there is something special between you and Hotaru!” Sailor 
   1.282 +moon 
   1.283 +cried.
   1.284 +The three outers were shocked.
   1.285 +“You can use your love to get through to her!” Sailor moon said and was 
   1.286 +forced back a few more steps as another surge hit her shield.
   1.287 +“How can we help?” The three outers asked.
   1.288 +“You are to drained to help, any further fighting may cause you more 
   1.289 +harm 
   1.290 +than good, I can keep up this barrier on my own for now, but Usa, 
   1.291 +please 
   1.292 +hurry. Usa nodded and sat down. She closed her eyes and concentrated on 
   1.293 +Hotaru. She heard Hotaru screaming, arguing with someone or something 
   1.294 +inside 
   1.295 +her head.
   1.296 +“GET OUT AND LEAVE THEM ALONE!” Hotaru cried.
   1.297 +“You don’t command me, I command you, and you will obey, you have no 
   1.298 +choice.” Said a creepy, old voice.
   1.299 +“You can no longer inhabit me if I am dead, and if that is the only way 
   1.300 +then 
   1.301 +so be it!” Hotaru said boldly and at that point Usa was forced out. 
   1.302 +Back in 
   1.303 +the real world:
   1.304 +“She’s getting stronger! I can’t hold it back!” Sailor moon had tears 
   1.305 +rolling down her cheeks from the pain.
   1.306 +“Usa? What happened? Why is her power growing?” Sailor moon asked 
   1.307 +worriedly.
   1.308 +“She was arguing with someone, I don’t know who, She said… She said…” 
   1.309 +Usa 
   1.310 +burst out crying and Michiru hugged her to comfort her.
   1.311 +“What did Hotaru say?”
   1.312 +“She said if the only way to get rid of that thing and save us was to 
   1.313 +kill 
   1.314 +herself then…  she said  she would do it, Oh Michiru! She’s going to 
   1.315 +kill 
   1.316 +herself!” Usa buried her face in Michiru’s stomach and cried. Michiru 
   1.317 +rubbed 
   1.318 +Usa’s back reassuringly. Sailor moon turned round to look at Usa and 
   1.319 +was 
   1.320 +caught off guard by a power surge. She screamed in pain as a black 
   1.321 +lightning 
   1.322 +whipped around her.
   1.323 +Pluto instantly stood up to reinitiate her shield and try to help 
   1.324 +sailor 
   1.325 +moon. Sailor moon looked down and saw what Pluto was trying to do. She 
   1.326 +shouted to Pluto not to and Pluto was shocked, therefore she stopped. 
   1.327 +Sailor 
   1.328 +moon screamed again as she was entangled in the lightning and it 
   1.329 +shocked her 
   1.330 +harshly. Pluto had got over her temporary shock and continued to try to 
   1.331 +activate her talisman, but she was too weak and it wouldn’t activate, 
   1.332 +neither would the other outers so they were all helpless.
   1.333 +“Mama!!” Usa cried out to see her past mother in so much pain. She ran 
   1.334 +towards Sailor Moon but Sailor Moon held out her hand to stop her.
   1.335 +“Don’t you dare get yourself hurt Usa!” Sailor moon said sternly. The 
   1.336 +silver 
   1.337 +crystal flickered and went blank. Sailor Moon’s eyes seemed to do the 
   1.338 +same.
   1.339 +“MAMA!! NO!!” Usa cried out as she watched a silent tear roll down 
   1.340 +Usagi’s 
   1.341 +cheek.
   1.342 +Sailor Saturn seemed to stir from the powerful state she had been in. 
   1.343 +She 
   1.344 +called forth the Silence Glaive and stared at Usa until her feet softly 
   1.345 +touched the floor. Her eyes changed, they were no longer empty and 
   1.346 +cold, now 
   1.347 +they were filled with love and guilt.
   1.348 +“I am sorry Usa, I had no control.” Sailor Saturn said as she let Usagi 
   1.349 +down 
   1.350 +from the lightning.
   1.351 +“Wait! She is still alive!” Sailor Saturn exclaimed. Sailor Saturn ran 
   1.352 +forward and pressed her hand on Usagi’s heart, She poured her Ki into 
   1.353 +Usagi 
   1.354 +and Usagi’s eyes flicked open.
   1.355 +“Thank you.” Usagi said.
   1.356 +“Do not thank me, Sailor Moon, It is I who needs to thank you for 
   1.357 +saving 
   1.358 +them from my power.” Sailor Saturn answered.
   1.359 +“O.K Sailor Saturn, You can stop now, I am healed.” Usagi said.
   1.360 +“Don’t even try to lie to me, I can feel that you are still really low 
   1.361 +on 
   1.362 +energy.” Sailor Saturn said and poured even more of her energy into 
   1.363 +Usagi’s 
   1.364 +body, Usagi’s Broach began to glow and she transformed into Sailor 
   1.365 +Moon. 
   1.366 +Sailor Saturn removed her hand.
   1.367 +“There, that’s better.” Sailor Saturn said.
   1.368 +“Thank you.” Sailor Moon said again. Sailor Saturn smiled and turned to 
   1.369 +face 
   1.370 +the outers and Usa.
   1.371 +“I must also return your energy.” Sailor Saturn said. She held her 
   1.372 +hands out 
   1.373 +in front of her and made a ball of her energy. She smiled and the 
   1.374 +energy 
   1.375 +started to spiral around the room and restored everything, while 
   1.376 +returning 
   1.377 +the others power to normal. Sailor Saturn changed back into Hotaru.
   1.378 +“Hotaru! Please stop!” Usa cried.
   1.379 +“I can’t.” Hotaru said solemnly.
   1.380 +“Why on earth not?!” Usa asked.
   1.381 +“Because if I stop then I will live, and if I live then I will end up 
   1.382 +killing you all.”
   1.383 +Usa started to cry all over again, she ran forward and hugged Hotaru, 
   1.384 +She 
   1.385 +looked up at the slightly taller girl and said
   1.386 +“Please, Hotaru, if you die, then I will have to die with you, 
   1.387 +Aishiteru.” 
   1.388 +Hotaru was shocked but then recovered herself and said
   1.389 +“Aishiteru Usa. But this is for me alone to do, I will be re-born and 
   1.390 +therefore we will meet again. I am sorry Usa.”
   1.391 +“What are you sorry for?” Usa asked.
   1.392 +“For this.” Hotaru said and pushed Usa back to the outers and Sailor 
   1.393 +Moon.
   1.394 +“Hotaru! What are you doing?!” Hotaru ignored the question. She 
   1.395 +transformed 
   1.396 +once again into Sailor Saturn and called forth the Silence Glaive.
   1.397 +“DEATH REBORN REVOLUTION!” She shouted, the others were so shocked and 
   1.398 +scared to hear her signature move. They thought she was going to kill 
   1.399 +the 
   1.400 +world with her, but they were wrong. Ribbons shot out from her Silence 
   1.401 +Glaive first and made a bubble around her, it was containing her power. 
   1.402 +The 
   1.403 +ribbons stopped coming forth and the light began to emanate from her 
   1.404 +Silence 
   1.405 +Glaive. The glow got brighter until Usa was the only one still able to 
   1.406 +see 
   1.407 +Hotaru. Hotaru gave a weak smile to Usa.
   1.408 +But just at that moment her eyes started to change again. She spoke in 
   1.409 +a 
   1.410 +voice that wasn’t her own.
   1.411 +“Hotaru! Do you think that you will really keep yours and my power 
   1.412 +cooped up 
   1.413 +in this pathetic shield??” The words came from her mouth but she wasn’t 
   1.414 +saying it. Everyone was shocked to hear a voice and then the light 
   1.415 +became 
   1.416 +stronger.
   1.417 +“We should set up the shield, just in case.” Sailor Pluto said.
   1.418 +“O.K” the others agreed. Usa saw the silhouette of Sailor Saturn, She 
   1.419 +fell 
   1.420 +to the ground in pain and shouted out as her shield was destroyed by 
   1.421 +the 
   1.422 +power coming from her own body. The power hit the shield with full 
   1.423 +force and 
   1.424 +then died down a little. The 3 outers and Usagi held the shield but Usa 
   1.425 +was 
   1.426 +crying to see Hotaru in so much pain. She made up her mind in a split 
   1.427 +second 
   1.428 +and stopped crying, she ran out of the shield, to the absolute despair 
   1.429 +of 
   1.430 +the others but there was nothing they could do except watch. Usa 
   1.431 +struggled 
   1.432 +forward into the light and fell over something on the floor. She looked 
   1.433 +behind her and realised it was Hotaru!
   1.434 +“HOTARU! Are you O.K? What a stupid question, of course your not O.K.” 
   1.435 +Usa 
   1.436 +was in hysterics and crying over Hotaru.
   1.437 +“Please wake up Hotaru-Chan!” Usa pleaded. Hotaru’s eyelids flickered 
   1.438 +but 
   1.439 +still didn’t open.
   1.440 +“Hotaru?” Usa asked worriedly. Hotaru’s head fell to one side but Usa 
   1.441 +wasn’t 
   1.442 +that worried because she heard Hotaru inhale. Hotaru didn’t move her 
   1.443 +face 
   1.444 +from her sideward position but still said
   1.445 +“Usa-Chan, thank you for believing in me. But we have to get out of 
   1.446 +here.”
   1.447 +“Why?” Usa asked. Hotaru looked up.
   1.448 +“That power, it is a type of spirit, I can’t keep it under control. I 
   1.449 +am 
   1.450 +sorry Usa, I tried to stop it but it overpowered me, but I promise…” 
   1.451 +Hotaru 
   1.452 +was stopped as Usa put her finger on Hotaru’s lips. Hotaru pushed it

   1.460 +“HOTARU!!” Usa cried as she looked up. She saw Hotaru being blasted and 
   1.461 +in 
   1.462 +her weak form she evolved into Sailor Saturn and tried to withstand it 
   1.463 +using 
   1.464 +the Silence Wall. It didn’t work and her Silence Glaive was smashed to 
   1.465 +pieces, she tried to stand against the attack for as long as she could…

   1.468 +
   1.469 +But she was overpowered and the all to familiar black lightning that 
   1.470 +nearly 
   1.471 +killed Sailor Moon whipped around Sailor Saturn. She was electrocuted 
   1.472 +as it 
   1.473 +concentrated on her…

   1.476 +She thought of all the good times she had shared with Chibi-Usa…

   1.480 +They seemed so long ago…
   1.481 +“Usa… I am so…Sorry…” Hotaru cried and fell to the floor motionless. 
   1.482 +But as 
   1.483 +she had said, when she died, the spirit died with her…
   1.484 +All things seemed to be undone as a light spread from the now unmoving 
   1.485 +Sailor Saturn. She turned back to Hotaru and floated for a few seconds 
   1.486 +before hitting the floor and raising dust. The light faded and the 
   1.487 +Sailor 
   1.488 +Soldiers shield was let down.
   1.489 +Usa ran forward to her friend and hugged her in a tight embrace; all 
   1.490 +the 
   1.491 +lamps in Hotaru’s now restored room lit and a warm glow spread over 
   1.492 +them 
   1.493 +all.
   1.494 +“Lets leave Usa alone.” Michiru said tenderly. She left quietly and the 
   1.495 +others followed suit. Setsuna didn’t want to leave and gave a sad look 
   1.496 +at 
   1.497 +Usa and her ‘daughter’ before shutting the door. Usa sat next to 
   1.498 +Hotaru’s 
   1.499 +body and held her hand.
   1.500 +“Wake up! Don’t you dare be dead! I forbid it as the princess of the 
   1.501 +Future 
   1.502 +Crystal Tokyo!” Usa was crying. She watched as the lamps glow 
   1.503 +illuminated 
   1.504 +Hotaru’s face and noticed something, not for the first time,
   1.505 +<She is so pretty, why did she do it?>
   1.506 +“Hotaru, why? I can’t live without you… Please, don’t leave me all 
   1.507 +alone!” 
   1.508 +Usa cried.
   1.509 +“Your not alone.” Usa was shocked and looked at Hotaru but Hotaru was 
   1.510 +still 
   1.511 +quite motionless. She looked up and saw an image of Sailor Saturn.
   1.512 +“Oh, Hotaru.” Usa said quietly.
   1.513 +“Don’t worry, you have lots of friends, my Odango-Chan. And please 
   1.514 +forgive 
   1.515 +me.”
   1.516 +“For what?” Usa asked.
   1.517 +“Hotaru, my human form, is still alive…”
   1.518 +“SHE IS?!” Usa asked shocked and shook Hotaru but stopped as soon as 
   1.519 +she saw 
   1.520 +that she was causing the Sailor Saturn pain. Usa tore her eyes from 
   1.521 +Hotaru 
   1.522 +and met Sailor Saturn’s eyes. They were Hotaru’s, but they only held 
   1.523 +pain.
   1.524 +“Yes, but she shouldn’t be, I am only still here because she is, and 
   1.525 +she is 
   1.526 +only here because you are. I am sorry Usa, I can’t allow you to do 
   1.527 +anything 
   1.528 +to get in the way.” And with that Usa was teleported downstairs and 
   1.529 +appeared 
   1.530 +in front of the others. They stared.
   1.531 +“What happened?” Asked Michiru.
   1.532 +“Hotaru!” Was the best Usa could manage and ran upstairs, closely 
   1.533 +followed 
   1.534 +by the others. She hesitated outside the door because she felt Sailor 
   1.535 +Saturn’s power building. She opened the door and the four burst in. 
   1.536 +They 
   1.537 +just stared at the sight that met their eyes:
   1.538 +Hotaru was on her feet and so was the image of Sailor Saturn. They each 
   1.539 +had 
   1.540 +a hand touched together, their right hands entwined and as Hotaru faded 
   1.541 +slightly, the image of Sailor Saturn got more solid until they were 
   1.542 +both 
   1.543 +solid. All the others could do was watch.
   1.544 +“I love you, Usa.” Hotaru said and Sailor Saturn called forth her 
   1.545 +Silence 
   1.546 +Glaive and swung it out in a circular motion, ending at her side. For a 
   1.547 +few 
   1.548 +tense moments nothing happened, but then Hotaru fell to her knees 
   1.549 +clutching 
   1.550 +her chest. She was not having a seizure, Usa knew that much, she was in 
   1.551 +pain. Usa ran forward and removed Hotaru’s hand from her chest. Usa saw 
   1.552 +her 
   1.553 +hand covered in blood and turned to face Sailor Saturn.
   1.554 +“You killed her!” Usa yelled.
   1.555 +“No, I am only her, I am her spirit and so am controlled by her, she 
   1.556 +killed 
   1.557 +herself, but needed someone to actually strike her down, she knew you 
   1.558 +wouldn’t allow anyone else, so I obliged.
   1.559 +“YOU AREN’T SAILOR SATURN!!” Usa shouted, causing the others to jump to 
   1.560 +their senses. Sailor Saturn smirked.
   1.561 +“True, but she really did make the decision. And I have to admit, I am 
   1.562 +glad 
   1.563 +to go down with her, because now I can make her after-life hell!” 
   1.564 +Sailor 
   1.565 +Saturn turned into smoke and was absorbed by Hotaru. Usa stared and 
   1.566 +then 
   1.567 +turned back to Hotaru.
   1.568 +“Please don’t leave me alone.” Usa said in a barely hear-able whisper.
   1.569 +“I have to.” Hotaru said and a silent tear ran down her pale cheek. She 
   1.570 +turned her head and she breathed in Usa’s sweet smell.
   1.571 +But just as she lost her heartbeat she realised…
   1.572 +Usa, She is my reason to live. That is why the spirit was trapped in 
   1.573 +me! I 
   1.574 +wanted to die; I had no reason to live! But now I can’t die!
   1.575 +“Usa…” Hotaru whispered.
   1.576 +“I don’t want to die!”
   1.577 +“Oh, Hotaru!” Usa cried and hugged her friend. Hotaru’s eyes closed and 
   1.578 +all 
   1.579 +went black; nothing moved but then, out of this nothing; there was 
   1.580 +light…
   1.581 +“Usa?” Hotaru asked. She opened her misty eyes and noticed she was in 
   1.582 +her 
   1.583 +bed. She also saw a new lamp, with a few words painted on, she moved 
   1.584 +forward, ignoring the pain from her chest and saw it was in Usa’s 
   1.585 +writing. 
   1.586 +It read:
   1.587 +‘Hotaru and Usa together forever.’
   1.588 +Hotaru started to get up and realised just how much pain she was in. 
   1.589 +She 
   1.590 +looked down and saw a blood-soaked bandage. She moved along the wall 
   1.591 +for 
   1.592 +support until she reached the doorway. She quietly opened the door and 
   1.593 +walked quicker down the hall, wanting to see Usa. She went down the 
   1.594 +stairs 
   1.595 +two at a time but made no sound at all. She turned the corner and put 
   1.596 +her 
   1.597 +ear to the living-room door:
   1.598 +Haruka: She is really weak, she may not pull through.
   1.599 +Usa: Don’t say such things! She is going to be fine! She has to be!
   1.600 +Michiru: Oh, Usa, you know that the wound was meant to kill her don’t 
   1.601 +you? 
   1.602 +She knew it was strong enough.
   1.603 +Setsuna: But she wanted to die then, I think the fact that she wants to 
   1.604 +live 
   1.605 +will make a difference. But not even I can see the outcome of this.
   1.606 +Usa: I know she will be O.K! She has to be!
   1.607 +
   1.608 +Hotaru heard Usa running to the door and tried to move back but still 
   1.609 +collided with Usa as she ran at high speed from the room.
   1.610 +“HOTARU!!” Usa exclaimed.
   1.611 +“Oww, Hi.” Hotaru rubbed her chest. The others had heard and come 
   1.612 +running 
   1.613 +out to see what had happened.
   1.614 +“Hotaru?!” They all stared.
   1.615 +“Yes?” Hotaru asked innocently, laughing at their awestruck faces.
   1.616 +“Oh, It’s so nice to hear you laugh again, we have missed it.” Michiru 
   1.617 +smiled.
   1.618 +“Missed it? How long have I been there?” Hotaru asked.
   1.619 +“About 3 weeks.” Setsuna finally said after a long silence.
   1.620 +“Wow, thank you for looking after me you guys.” Hotaru said.
   1.621 +
   1.622 +(A/N: I am now referring to Chibi-Usa as Usagi, seeing as they are both 
   1.623 +about 20 now.) Hotaru and Usagi were walking through the park.
   1.624 +“This is the exact spot we met, Usa.” Hotaru said and got down on one 
   1.625 +knee,
   1.626 +“Usagi, Princess of the Future Crystal Tokyo…will you marry me?” Hotaru 
   1.627 +asked and showed Usagi a ring with their Sailor Soldier Symbols 
   1.628 +imprinted 
   1.629 +and entwined with each other, Hotaru’s side was a purple and Usagi’s 
   1.630 +was a 
   1.631 +golden-white.
   1.632 +“Oh, Hotaru! Of course I will marry you!” Usagi cried.
   1.633 +
   1.634 +And they walked down the road, hand in hand, nothing ever to tear them 
   1.635 +apart 
   1.636 +again.
