| 6 Hello everyone! We hope you had a safe and wonderful Holiday | |
| 7 Season! We also hope you enjoy this story. It's about ChibiUsa and | |
| 8 Hotaru. It goes along the same timeline as our other stories with | |
| 9 the two of them. Sorry it took us so long to finish this one, but | |
| 10 we've been pretty busy lately and it took us a while to finally | |
| 11 type this up. We've already started our next story which should | |
| 12 hopefully be up next week or the week after. It should be longer | |
| 13 than most of our stories and it will take place in an alternate | |
| 14 timeline from the one we're currently writing about. We'd like to | |
| 15 thank everybody who has encouraged our writing so far. And please, | |
| 16 we love e-mail from people who read our stories, so if you have | |

| 21 "Missed Chances" | |
| 22 | |
| 23 "This college stuff isn't fair," grumbled Usagi. She, Minako, | |
| 24 and Ami were sitting in the library studying. | |
| 25 "And why is that?" asked Ami. | |
| 26 "Well, from what we've heard about the future from ChibiUsa | |
| 27 and Setsuna, I'm going to be Neo Queen Serenity in a couple of | |
| 28 years. I shouldn't be worrying about college right now," said | |
| 29 Usagi. | |
| 30 "All the more reason to take it. That way you'll be a better | |
| 31 ruler and not totally screw us all," said Minako. | |
| 32 "You hate it just as much as I do," said Usagi. | |
| 33 "Yeah, but I'm not the one who's going to be the neo queen," | |
| 34 Minako answered. | |
| 35 Usagi stood up. "I'm going to put these books back up. Is | |
| 36 there anything you want me to bring back?" | |
| 37 "Don't worry about it. Just get back quickly. There are a few | |
| 38 things I want to go over and then we can leave," said Ami. | |
| 39 "We're almost done? Great! I'll be back in a minute," said | |
| 40 Usagi. She turned to leave and walked right into ChibiUsa, the | |
| 41 armful of books the younger girl had been carrying clattered to the | |
| 42 floor. | |
| 43 "Baka Usagi. Don't you ever watch where you're going? | |
| 44 ChibiUsa kneeled down and started picking up the books she had | |
| 45 dropped. | |
| 46 "You weren't looking either," Usagi said defensively. | |
| 47 "There you are. Sorry I took so long finding the books I | |
| 48 wanted. Are you okay? What happened?" asked Hotaru as she walked | |
| 49 up. She leaned down and helped ChibiUsa pick up the books. | |
| 50 ChibiUsa looked up when she saw Hotaru. Her eyes seemed to | |
| 51 brighten. "I'm fine. Usagi and I collided. I guess I got all of my | |
| 52 clutziness from her," said ChibiUsa. She picked up the last of the | |
| 53 books and stood up. | |
| 54 "I don't think that's bad. I think it's cute," said Hotaru. | |
| 55 ChibiUsa's eyes went wide. Usagi, Ami, and Minako looked at Hotaru | |
| 56 strangely. Hotaru just looked at ChibiUsa innocently. She turned to | |
| 57 Usagi. "So, how are you doing, Usagi?" she asked politely. | |
| 58 Usagi looked at her for several seconds before replying. Had | |
| 59 she said that her future daughter's clutziness was cute? "I'm doing | |
| 60 pretty well. We were just about done studying. Then we're going to | |
| 61 get something to eat." | |
| 62 "That sounds good," said ChibiUsa, getting hungry. | |
| 63 "So do you both have a big test coming up?" asked Usagi, | |
| 64 indicating the books ChibiUsa was holding. | |
| 65 "No. These are all the books Hotaru wants to check out. How | |
| 66 she can read like that, I'll never know. You should see her room. | |
| 67 There are books everywhere," ChibiUsa said. 'She doesn't even | |
| 68 notice me when she's reading.' | |
| 69 "Oh, it's not that bad," said Hotaru. "And I always notice | |
| 70 you," | |
| 71 "You get really wrapped up in it. It's like the rest of the | |
| 72 world isn't there," said ChibiUsa. | |
| 73 "No. I like reading, but that's not what happens. Only one | |
| 74 thing make me feel like the rest of the world isn't there, and it's | |
| 75 a lot more important to me than any book I've ever read," said | |
| 76 Hotaru. | |
| 77 "You know what I mean," said ChibiUsa. | |
| 78 "Maybe I'm not looking at the books as much as you think I | |
| 79 am," said Hotaru. | |
| 80 "So do you two want to have dinner with us?" asked Minako. | |
| 81 "Actually, we were going back to Hotaru's house after this. | |
| 82 Haruka and Michiru are on a date tonight, Setsuna's rearranging | |
| 83 things in the Time Palace. Don't ask me why," said ChibiUsa. | |
| 84 "And I'd be lonely by myself, so I wanted ChibiUsa to stay | |
| 85 with me," said Hotaru. | |
| 86 "You two have fun then," said Usagi as ChibiUsa and Hotaru | |
| 87 waved and walked away. | |
| 88 "That was strange," said Minako. | |
| 89 "Yeah. I swear they act like a couple sometimes. And what | |
| 90 were some of those things they were talking about?" asked Usagi. | |
| 91 "They're kids," said Minako. | |
| 92 "They're teenagers," Ami corrected. | |
| 93 | |
| 94 Hotaru and ChibiUsa arrived at Hotaru's house. Hotaru closed | |
| 95 the door behind them. | |
| 96 "Would you like anything to drink, Odango-chan?" Hotaru | |
| 97 asked. | |
| 98 "Yeah, that would be nice," ChibiUsa answered. She followed | |
| 99 Hotaru into the kitchen. | |
| 100 Hotaru opened the refrigerator and started looking for | |
| 101 something to drink for ChibiUsa. She felt ChibiUsa walk up to her | |
| 102 from behind. Her arms encircled Hotaru's waist. She leaned her head | |
| 103 against Hotaru's shoulder. Hotaru was just slightly taller than she | |
| 104 was, so ChibiUsa fit perfectly against her. | |
| 105 "Why did you do that earlier?" asked ChibiUsa. | |
| 106 Hotaru smiled. "You should know me well enough by now. Why do | |
| 107 you think I did?" | |
| 108 ChibiUsa sighed, an altogether pleasent sensation for Hotaru. | |
| 109 "Because you hate acting like we're just friends and you want | |
| 110 everyone to know that I'm your odango-chan." | |
| 111 "Yep," said Hotaru. She turned around in ChibiUsa's embrace | |
| 112 so that she was facing the other girl. "And I was just being honest | |
| 113 while we were talking to Usagi." | |
| 114 "So you really do think that my clutziness is cute?" ChibiUsa | |
| 115 asked. | |
| 116 "Absolutely. I have ever since I met you," Hotaru answered. | |
| 117 ChibiUsa smiled. | |
| 118 "I love you, Hotaru," she said as she kissed the dark haired | |
| 119 girl. "I only wish my first kiss had been with you and not Helios." | |
| 120 Hotaru blushed. "It wasn't." | |
| 121 "What do you mean?" asked ChibiUsa. | |
| 122 "It happened before I was changed into a baby." Hotaru | |
| 123 blushed deeper as she continued. "I was sleeping over at your | |
| 124 house. I was still shocked by the fact that you had invited me | |
| 125 over. Or that you even wanted to be my friend. No one else cared | |
| 126 about me, but you did. I was falling in love with you." | |
| 127 "But I was a kid, Hotaru," said ChibiUsa, surprised by what | |
| 128 Hotaru was saying. | |
| 129 "That didn't matter to me. And didn't you go after some | |
| 130 people back when you were that age? Anyway, you had fallen asleep | |
| 131 and I stayed awake to watch you. You were so beautiful. I started | |
| 132 to wonder what it would be like if you and I were together. I guess | |
| 133 I got a little carried away while imagining that. I wanted to know | |
| 134 what it would be like to kiss you, so after working up the courage, | |
| 135 I did." | |
| 136 "I thought that was just a dream I had," said ChibiUsa. "I | |
| 137 remember feeling bad in the morning because I had had an ecchi | |
| 138 dream about my best friend." | |
| 139 "It wasn't ecchi. It was romantic that you'd dream about me," | |

| 141 "Though the dream was happening in real life. I sure missed | |

| 144 Hotaru giggled. "Well, I'm glad I did then. I almost didn't, | |
| 145 but you were so cute while you were sleeping. I wanted to know what | |

| 147 "Now you know. And you can whenever you want," said ChibiUsa. | |
| 148 "I'll have to take you up on that offer," said Hotaru as her | |
| 149 lips gently met ChibiUsa's. Their kiss grew more passionate as the | |
| 150 girls let down the guise of only being friends in the solitude of | |
| 151 the house. Hotaru felt warm inside. It was as if so many things had | |
| 152 opened for her when she had admitted how she felt about ChibiUsa to | |
| 153 the pink-haired girl and herself. She had kissed ChibiUsa before, | |
| 154 while she was asleep, but she had tried to suppress her feelings | |
| 155 for the other girl after that. She had know that she had very | |
| 156 strong emotions for ChibiUsa, but she hadn't quite known what they | |
| 157 meant. She was so happy to have learned that ChibiUsa loved her, | |

| 178 her friend is." She kissed ChibiUsa again and started to unbutton | |
| 179 her shirt. ChibiUsa blushed as Hotaru removed her clothes. She | |
| 180 noticed that Hotaru's cheeks were flushed as well. ChibiUsa ran her | |
| 181 hand along Hotaru's leg. She stopped when she reached Hotaru's | |
| 182 thigh. She slid her fingers under the tight cloth of Hotaru's dark | |
| 183 stockings. She slid the cloth down and off of Hotaru's leg. She | |

| 254 ChibiUsa was sitting on Usagi's bed while Usagi was getting | |
| 255 ready for a date with Mamoru. Usagi looked at different outfits in | |
| 256 the mirror, trying to find the right one. | |
| 257 "Usagi, I have a question," said ChibiUsa. | |
| 258 Usagi was surprised. ChibiUsa usually didn't come to her for | |
| 259 advice. "Okay, what is it?" asked Usagi. | |
| 260 "Ummmm... well, it's perfectly normal for a girl to get a | |
| 261 crush on another girl, right? I mean, if the girl really admires | |
| 262 the other girl and they're really close? It doesn't mean anything, | |
| 263 right?" asked ChibiUsa nervously. | |
| 264 Usagi tried to understand what ChibiUsa had just said. From | |
| 265 the way ChibiUsa had been talking a month ago, Usagi had been sure | |

| 267 turned out to be a girl named Hotaru that she was visiting. Usagi | |

| 281 I do," said Usagi. ChibiUsa walked to the door. "Where are you | |

| 287 Hotaru smiled. "Did you really ask Usagi that?" | |

| 289 scaring me. I was looking for a nice boyfriend and I was starting | |
| 290 to feel strangely about another girl. That wasn't supposed to | |
| 291 happen." | |
| 292 "What were you afraid of?" asked Hotaru. | |
| 293 "I'm the heir to Neo Queen Serenity and the senshi of the | |
| 294 future moon and I was falling in love with the senshi of silence. I | |
| 295 had a lot to worry about. And I admit that I was a little scared. | |
| 296 But that's a lot for a kid to deal with. And you weren't helping. | |
| 297 You just confused me more," said ChibiUsa. | |

| 299 "This doll is so kawaii!" said ChibiUsa as she picked up the | |
| 300 doll off Hotaru's dresser. It slightly resembled Hotaru with short, | |
| 301 dark hair and purple eyes. It wore a beautiful kimono. | |
| 302 "Thank you," said Hotaru as she smiled at her friend's | |
| 303 enthusiasm. "My mother gave it to me when I was fairly young... a | |
| 304 couple months before she died." | |
| 305 "That's so sad," said ChibiUsa. She looked at the doll closer | |
| 306 as a tear ran down her cheek. | |
| 307 "Don't be sorry," said Hotaru gently. "I miss my mom, but I | |
| 308 don't want to forget about her. I like to remember the good times I | |
| 309 spent with her. The doll helps remind me of those times." | |
| 310 "It's not fair, Hotaru," said ChibiUsa, clutching the doll as | |
| 311 if it could make all the sadness and despair she was feeling go | |
| 312 away. | |
| 313 Hotaru was shocked to see ChibiUsa so sad all of the sudden. | |
| 314 "It's okay ChibiUsa," said Hotaru, trying to comfort her friend. | |
| 315 "No, it's not," cried ChibiUsa as several more tears | |
| 316 trickled down her face. "I have both my parents and their friends | |
| 317 and I still act like a brat sometimes. You lost your mom when you | |
| 318 were a little girl, your father spends most of his time in a lab, | |
| 319 and all the kids at your school are so mean to you. It's not fair," | |
| 320 ChibiUsa's head lowered slightly. Hotaru kissed the younger girl on | |
| 321 the cheek. ChibiUsa's head jerked back up, several tears forgotten | |
| 322 as they ran down her face. ChibiUsa blushed a bright crismon as | |
| 323 she stared wide-eyed at Hotaru. | |
| 324 "Hotaru?" ChibiUsa managed weakly. | |
| 325 Hotaru smiled at her. "ChibiUsa, you're my bestfriend. I'm | |
| 326 happy for that. Please don't cry." | |

| 328 "Okay," said Hotaru. "I guess I didn't make it any easier for | |
| 329 you." | |
| 330 "Nope. You had me confused for a long time," said ChibiUsa. | |
| 331 "When did you first know? It took me forever to sort things out." | |
| 332 "When did I first know I was in love with you?," Hotaru | |
| 333 smiled at the pink haired girl. "It was during the battle with | |
| 334 Pharoh 90. After I returned your heart crystal to you, I knew." | |
| 335 "I mean when you first knew for sure," said ChibiUsa. | |
| 336 "I know. That was when I first knew for sure that I loved | |
| 337 you. When I saw you open your eyes and looked at me, I knew I was | |
| 338 in love," explained Hotaru. | |
| 339 "Then why didn't you say anything for all of these years?" | |
| 340 asked ChibiUsa confused. | |
| 341 "Because I didn't remember. I was changed into a baby shortly | |
| 342 after that. It wasn't until a couple weeks ago after I told you I | |
| 343 loved you that I remembered," said Hotaru. "Anyway, what would you | |
| 344 have done if I had told you before I was changed into a baby? | |
| 345 Actually, I think I did hint at it right after I realized I loved | |
| 346 you. | |
| 347 "Yes. You said 'It's strange. We're both girls, but its like | |
| 348 fate we met,'" said ChibiUsa, trying to sound like Hotaru. | |
| 349 "What was that?" asked Hotaru. | |
| 350 "That was my Hotaru impression," said ChibiUsa smiling. | |
| 351 "I do not sound like that," said Hotaru. She playfully pushed | |
| 352 ChibiUsa. "So what did you think I was talking about when I said | |
| 353 that? It sounds to me like, 'ChibiUsa, even though we're both | |
| 354 girls, I feel strangely about you, as if destiny brought us | |
| 355 together.'" | |
| 356 ChibiUsa stared at Hotaru. "You're weird, Taru, but that's | |
| 357 just one of the many things I like about you. I understood what you | |
| 358 were talking about back then, but afterwards I tried not to think | |
| 359 about it. I was heartbroken after you were changed into a baby. I | |
| 360 didn't know what to do. I buried a lot of my feelings about you | |
| 361 then. I didn't understand why I felt the way I did at the time." | |
| 362 Hotaru looked at ChibiUsa for a while before replying. "I | |
| 363 love you, Odango-chan." | |
| 364 "I love you, Hotaru," said ChibiUsa. | |
