rlm@2 9 Chapter One: She's so Kawaii!
rlm@2 10
rlm@2 11 Long, slender fingers traced an invisible pattern on the armrest of a
rlm@2 12 cushioned chair, crimson in color, seated inside of the Principal's office.
rlm@2 13 A tall girl, perhaps sixteen in age, regarded her mother and the Principal
rlm@2 14 with calm sapphire eyes. She had once been told her eyes were a shade born
rlm@2 15 of the mating of sky and sea, but Tomoyo did not think of herself in such
rlm@2 16 ways. It was just her mother's affection, whenever the older woman had the
rlm@2 17 chance to give it.
rlm@2 18
rlm@2 19 Chuckling to herself as the adults spoke, the ebony-haired girl stood
rlm@2 20 quietly, walking over to the window, locking her hands behind her, gazing
rlm@2 21 out the glass. It was like a different world, in Tokyo. Where she had come
rlm@2 22 from...London, as her mother had been working there for perhaps five years
rlm@2 23 now, it was very different. It was odd to hear her native language all the
rlm@2 24 time, but a great relief, then almost musical sounds falling to her like
rlm@2 25 water did to one who was thirsty.
rlm@2 26
rlm@2 27 Tomoyo raised her hand to the glass, resting it there gently. The sun was
rlm@2 28 bright today...she didn't like it. It was too perfect, too calm. The kind of
rlm@2 29 day that was made to be broken. But for now, she would like it. A face that
rlm@2 30 was not her own gazed back, reflected in the mirror, and smiled, a small
rlm@2 31 smile. The girl finally smiled, softly, and the face smiled back brightly,
rlm@2 32 fading away to her own reflection. Mirror was too worried.
rlm@2 33
rlm@2 34 "Daidouji-san." A voice, from behind her. Oh. Another teacher. "Follow me.
rlm@2 35 I'll take you to Terada-sensei's room."
rlm@2 36
rlm@2 37 Nodding vaguely, Tomoyo followed. She wasn't sure what she passed on the
rlm@2 38 way, lost in her own thoughts, but felt a small tug on her right hand, which
rlm@2 39 was resting on her schoolbag as she walked. A small, black cat stared up at
rlm@2 40 her, then pointed to where she normally kept crackers. Tomoyo gave a nod,
rlm@2 41 before the man in front of her stopped. She looked up, and he pointed to a
rlm@2 42 door, walking away.
rlm@2 43
rlm@2 44 Door could do so much for one. They were a way into life, a way into change.
rlm@2 45 What did this door hold? Smiling at her own thoughts, Tomoyo reached out as
rlm@2 46 the black cat went back into her bag, and pulled the door open.
rlm@2 47
rlm@2 48 The typical boredom had kicked in, and that usually ment, the balancing the
rlm@2 49 pencil on her finger trick. Sitting by the open window, Sakura sighed to
rlm@2 50 herself, while watching the beautiful scene outside. Quietly to herself, as
rlm@2 51 the pencil fell from her finger, "Great...a perfect day to be out and
rlm@2 52 blading, and here I am...trying to figure out what compound fractures can do
rlm@2 53 to fulfil my life in the future...pfft...I can say this much, it ain't gonna
rlm@2 54 be an everyday event, that's for sure."
rlm@2 55
rlm@2 56 "Huh?" The classroom door opened up and Sakura's head turned towards it to
rlm@2 57 see what was up, and hoping for some form of interruption for this lame
rlm@2 58 amount of learning. And when she saw it was a new student, she figured it
rlm@2 59 would at least constitute a limited disruption...at least for ten minutes or
rlm@2 60 so.
rlm@2 61
rlm@2 62 Mr. Terada looked away from the black board for a moment and smiled
rlm@2 63 politely, "Well now...who do we have here?" He placed the chalk down and
rlm@2 64 walked over to Tomoyo, "Hello there, you must be Miss Daidouji, yes? I've
rlm@2 65 been expecting you."
rlm@2 66
rlm@2 67 The girl smiled. It was small, silent, and calm, as she was. "Hai. I am
rlm@2 68 Daidouji Tomoyo. You are Terada-sensei...? Ah...where should I sit?"
rlm@2 69 Tomoyo's voice was low and musical, and one would have to strain to hear it
rlm@2 70 if it had been noisy. But it was not. The classroom was hot, silent, thick
rlm@2 71 with the boredom she herself was familiar with, though she would never admit
rlm@2 72 it. Her eyes slid off the teacher, smile in place, and roamed the classroom.
rlm@2 73
rlm@2 74 A few boys and girls smiled at her, and she smiled back, ever polite, eyes
rlm@2 75 catching on a few of the more energetic. At the end of her examination of
rlm@2 76 the classroom, Tomoyo found herself looking into a pair of eyes of a green
rlm@2 77 she had never quite seen. They were not emerald, as many would say, but soft
rlm@2 78 and warm and alive. Like a forest, growing. Emeralds were hard gems. These
rlm@2 79 eyes might be gems, but they were by no means hard.
rlm@2 80
rlm@2 81 Yoshiyuki Terada nodded toward Tomoyo and gestured towards the end of an
rlm@2 82 isle of desks, "Well, if you don't mind...you can take a seat next to Miss
rlm@2 83 Kinomoto." He thanked the teacher that had escorted Tomoyo to the class and
rlm@2 84 then asked the young girl something before she got to her seat, "Perhaps
rlm@2 85 you'd like to introduce yourself to the class first though? If not...that's
rlm@2 86 fine too."
rlm@2 87 The green eyes that Tomoyo had found fixed on were attached to the rather
rlm@2 88 fair skinned Kinomoto Sakura. She was smiling warmly towards the new girl
rlm@2 89 and even gave a slight nod as Terada Sensei motioned towards the seat next
rlm@2 90 to her's. She thought it was about time that someone would take that seat,
rlm@2 91 having been without someone to whisper to in quite some time. Sakura then
rlm@2 92 reached down to pick up the pencil that had dropped from her desk, not
rlm@2 93 wanting Tomoyo to trip on it.
rlm@2 94
rlm@2 95 A blush spread across the pale girl's cheeks, slightly ashamed for having
rlm@2 96 been the least bit rude. She bowed slightly to the class. "I am Daidouji
rlm@2 97 Tomoyo, just here from London...I was born here, though." Not quite knowing
rlm@2 98 what to say about herself, the heiress smiled and walked to the empty desk,
rlm@2 99 gracefully. A good number of boys, and a few girls, gave Sakura glares, as
rlm@2 100 the girl settled herself into the seat and Terada began his lesson again,
rlm@2 101 this time accompanied by whispers and notes passing about the room.
rlm@2 102
rlm@2 103 "Thank you for allowing me to sit here." Tomoyo's voice, low, to the girl
rlm@2 104 beside her, as she searched for something in her bag, carefully around the
rlm@2 105 hidden creature.
rlm@2 106
rlm@2 107 Straightening up and placing the pencil back in the fold of her text book,
rlm@2 108 Sakura smiled brightly and quietly replied, "Not a problem. I've been dieing
rlm@2 109 to have someone to talk to...errr...not that Terada Sensei's class is
rlm@2 110 boring. But, you know...it's good to have someone to talk to." Sakura wasn't
rlm@2 111 opposed to Terada at all...just when it came to math that she suddenly felt
rlm@2 112 a distaste for the classroom environment.
rlm@2 113
rlm@2 114 "So, you're from London England...that's so cool. It must have been
rlm@2 115 wonderful there, right?" She wasn't particularly overtly interested in
rlm@2 116 Europe, but the thought of living anywhere but here, tickled her greatly.
rlm@2 117 "If you need any catch up notes or what-nots...just let me know. I have most
rlm@2 118 of them here and you're free to borrow them whenever you want them." Sakura
rlm@2 119 was half paying attention towards what Terada was writing in the black
rlm@2 120 board, but was more focused on her new classmate.
rlm@2 121
rlm@2 122 Tomoyo couldn't help but smile warmly. For once there was someone who wasn't
rlm@2 123 asking about...
rlm@2 124 "London? Isn't that where Kawaii M is?!" A glasses-wearing girl leaned
rlm@2 125 around Sakura, whispering in an excited voice, amber eyes sparking. "Ah,
rlm@2 126 she's the coolest!"
rlm@2 127
rlm@2 128 "Yes, Kawai M was thereabouts. I don't..." How best to handle this? "Know
rlm@2 129 much about her. I mean, I've seen the news, and pictures, but it's not as if
rlm@2 130 she went out of her way to speak to an ordinary girl like me. Ah...do you
rlm@2 131 mind if I ask your names?"
rlm@2 132
rlm@2 133 "Oh. Sorry! Yanagisawa Naoko. Rika-chan is the girl behind me and two seats
rlm@2 134 over, but don't bother looking. She's taking notes, probably. That's Chiharu
rlm@2 135 behind Miss Kinomoto," Naoko's voice was lightly teasing. "And that's about
rlm@2 136 it."
rlm@2 137
rlm@2 138 The girl arched one eyebrow, then turned to look at 'Miss Kinomoto'.
rlm@2 139
rlm@2 140 Sakura nodded, as if confirming Naoko's introductions, "Yeah...that's the
rlm@2 141 gang, so-to-speak." She then felt alittle stupid, when the mentioning of
rlm@2 142 Kawaii M was made, "Umm...question? Who or what is Kawaii M?" obviously not
rlm@2 143 one up with modern news, Sakura had no idea what Naoko was going on
rlm@2 144 about...which wasn't all that surprising. The girl had always confused or
rlm@2 145 creeped out Sakura with her odd tales and para-media quips.
rlm@2 146
rlm@2 147 She had hoped that Tomoyo wasn't going to think poorly of her ignorance, or
rlm@2 148 perhaps it was obscure knowledge and it wouldn't make Sakura look too
rlm@2 149 poorly. She then made an after thought that perhaps she should've just
rlm@2 150 smiled and acted like she knew what they were talking about. Too late for
rlm@2 151 that, she guessed.
rlm@2 152
rlm@2 153 About to answer, Tomoyo was cut off by Naoko, who's eyes were shining
rlm@2 154 brightly. "Kawaii M is only the super hero ever!!! She fights the
rlm@2 155 paranormal, all while looking good! Well, I mean, she gets messed up after
rlm@2 156 battles, but oh gods! She is the BEST! Sakura-chan, haven't you watched the
rlm@2 157 news lately?"
rlm@2 158
rlm@2 159 "Sakura-chan. So that's your name. Cherry blossom." Tomoyo wasn't heard by
rlm@2 160 Naoko.
rlm@2 161
rlm@2 162 "Anyways, Chiharu-chan knows more about it, don't you Chiharu-chan?!" Naoko
rlm@2 163 leaned over, more quiet now that she was done.
rlm@2 164
rlm@2 165 Chiharu looked up at the mention of her name and then smiled, "Hai, I've
rlm@2 166 been keeping paper clippings...hold on," she then pulled open her back pack
rlm@2 167 and fumbled around till she finally pulled out a slim binder and handed it
rlm@2 168 to Naoko, "Oh, I'm sorry, Mihara Chiharu...it's a pleasure to meet you miss
rlm@2 169 Daidouji. In there are all of the events that the media have covered on
rlm@2 170 Kawaii M. Well, as much as they've released here in Japan. Two of those
rlm@2 171 clippings I had to pull off of the internet."
rlm@2 172
rlm@2 173 Sakura blushed as Tomoyo said her name, though wasn't sure why...perhaps it
rlm@2 174 was the way she had said it, "Yeah, Kinomoto Sakura...but I like your name
rlm@2 175 much better, Tomoyo-chan just chimes nicely. Errr...I mean, Tomoyo-san.
rlm@2 176 Sorry..." She then bent over to look at the binder that Naoko was looking
rlm@2 177 through. "Ohhh...you're right. She is pretty."
rlm@2 178
rlm@2 179 "Tomoyo-chan is fine, if I am permitted to call you Sakura-chan." She would
rlm@2 180 look wonderful in some of those costumes, Tomoyo thought, thinking. She
rlm@2 181 wasn't paying attention to the binder much, though the other three were. She
rlm@2 182 was watching the brunette. "Ah, nice to meet you as well, Chiharu-san. Your
rlm@2 183 clippings are...very extensive."
rlm@2 184
rlm@2 185 And slightly scary, the ebony-haired girl though silently. "You think she's
rlm@2 186 pretty?" Tomoyo felt a flush rise in her cheeks.
rlm@2 187
rlm@2 188 The green eyed girl tilted her head slightly as she was reading over Naoko's
rlm@2 189 shoulder now, and then looked back at Tomoyo, smiling. "She is...not too
rlm@2 190 many people could pull off an out-fit like that and look good in it. But,
rlm@2 191 she's done it perfectly. I guess, hence the name Kawaii..." Sakura then sat
rlm@2 192 back down after Terada Sensei glanced in her direction, though said nothing.
rlm@2 193 She got the point quick enough without a word and nodded apologetically.
rlm@2 194
rlm@2 195 Sakura then looked back at Tomoyo, "Well then, Tomoyo-chan it is. And I like
rlm@2 196 Sakura-chan, so that's fine." She took notice that the new girl wasn't too
rlm@2 197 interested in Chiharu's collection, and figured it was cause she's seen it
rlm@2 198 all first hand in the local papers of London. Probably old news to her.
rlm@2 199
rlm@2 200 Chiharu piped up, "I've been hoisting a fan site for her...though I really
rlm@2 201 could use some better pictures to use. News print doesn't scan too well."
rlm@2 202 She then reached back to take the binder from Naoko, "We should put that
rlm@2 203 away before we get into trouble. I really don't want it taken away from me
rlm@2 204 again."
rlm@2 205
rlm@2 206 Tomoyo sweat dropped. "I could...see if I can find some for you...sometime.
rlm@2 207 You're EverGreener? I think I've seen the site." She smiled all the time,
rlm@2 208 though this was slightly over the top. Sakura seemed interested, though. She
rlm@2 209 probably found the superhero exotic or the like. It was odd to even think
rlm@2 210 about the website...it even guessed at Kawaii M's vital statistics, and was
rlm@2 211 quite possibly the best site out there for the new hero.
rlm@2 212
rlm@2 213 "When's lunch period...?" Naoko groaned as the pictures and clippings were
rlm@2 214 taken away, looking depressed. "I can't wait for the horror to end. Or art.
rlm@2 215 I hear we're pairing up for the photography unit. You wanna be with me,
rlm@2 216 Chiharu-chan? Or are you still waiting to see who else comes 'round. I think
rlm@2 217 Rika-chan is paired with Kamirko-chan."
rlm@2 218
rlm@2 219 Chiharu put the binder away in her pack, "You could do that for me, Tomoyo?
rlm@2 220 Wow, that's great...I'd even give you mention on the site for that," and
rlm@2 221 then grinned at Naoko, "No, we can do it together, Na-chan. I think we work
rlm@2 222 pretty good together actually." She then went back to topping up her math
rlm@2 223 notes that they had missed cause of the conversation. Grumbling about the
rlm@2 224 work as much as Sakura was previously.
rlm@2 225
rlm@2 226 Sakura sighed and figured her had to get back to work as well, but the
rlm@2 227 mention of the photography assignment had caught her attention, and she then
rlm@2 228 realized that she didn't have a partner either. "Hmm...Tomoyo-chan? Would
rlm@2 229 you like to work with me on that project? I mean..." she lowered her head,
rlm@2 230 being somewhat embarrassed, "...I just didn't have a partner, and
rlm@2 231 figured...seeing how you didn't either...you know, I...well, it would be a
rlm@2 232 great way for us to get to know each other, right?" She sort of perked up at
rlm@2 233 the last part, "I love making new friends, and I'm sure we'd get along just
rlm@2 234 swell."
rlm@2 235
rlm@2 236 Tomoyo smiled birghtly, leaning over on her desk as she replied. "I think so
rlm@2 237 as well, Sakura-chan. Besides which, I think you'd make a good model. I like
rlm@2 238 photography, actually. It's always been a hobby of mine. And I think I'm
rlm@2 239 decent at it, enough not to shock anyone with the horror, at least." She
rlm@2 240 giggled at this. "Is this an in school project, or out of school?"
rlm@2 241
rlm@2 242 The mention of her being a good model caught Sakura off guard and even
rlm@2 243 caused Rika to raise her head from her notes taking. "Errr...huh? Me? A
rlm@2 244 model? Not likely...I don't think I'm model material...that stuff kinda
rlm@2 245 requires abit of beauty and grace...two serious requirements that arn't in
rlm@2 246 my favour. But...thank you, that was nice of you to say." She then flipped
rlm@2 247 open one of her note books and read over the assignment, "Hmm...says here,
rlm@2 248 that it's kind of an artsy thingy. So, I'm guessing where ever you can point
rlm@2 249 a camera. In school or out...doesn't really matter as long as it's done with
rlm@2 250 proper lighting, focal points and mood settings involved."
rlm@2 251
rlm@2 252 Sakura handed over her notes on the project to Tomoyo and bent over next to
rlm@2 253 her, pointing out the various requirements, "See? It doesn't say where it
rlm@2 254 gets done..." She then looked up at her new classmate with a kind smile,
rlm@2 255 "You like taking pictures, huh? Too cool. Maybe you can teach me a few
rlm@2 256 things...I tend to always mess up the exposures."
rlm@2 257
rlm@2 258 Terada looked over to the two, after taking notice that Sakura had moved
rlm@2 259 closer to Tomoyo. He then smiled seeing that Sakura was actually pointng out
rlm@2 260 an up-coming project paper to the new girl and went back to finishing up the
rlm@2 261 lesson. "...and that's why the common denominator is always followed
rlm@2 262 with..."
rlm@2 263
rlm@2 264 "Anywhere?!" The first time in ages she'd even had time to think of such a
rlm@2 265 thing. "I think the park would be nice...all the flowers are blooming, and
rlm@2 266 the Sakura trees as well. Maybe even in a kimono..." Tomoyo touched her hand
rlm@2 267 to her cheek, eyes glazed over. "Oh, I think you'd look nice in a nice blue
rlm@2 268 one...fabrics are endless...what kind of embroidery, though? I think maybe
rlm@2 269 suns...suns and stars...dragons? Hmm. So maybe brighter colors..." She
rlm@2 270 trailed off, smiling dreamily. "We should go to the store after school! I
rlm@2 271 still remember where it is, I think."
rlm@2 272 Naoko was staring. It was hard to take in. Although Sakura was entergetic,
rlm@2 273 cheerful, and always smiling, she was hardly graceful. She generally caught
rlm@2 274 the baton on her head and nose and anywhere but her hands fifty percent of
rlm@2 275 the time in cheerleading, and she'd been doing that for quite a while.
rlm@2 276 "Um...model?"
rlm@2 277
rlm@2 278 "Yes! Don't you see it?" Tomoyo turned, excited. "It's perfect!!"
rlm@2 279
rlm@2 280 Sakura sat back in her chair as her cheeks went all rose coloured from
rlm@2 281 embarrassment and some-what shock. "Errr...I don't know...I've never really
rlm@2 282 done anything like this before." She then caught the mention of hit a store
rlm@2 283 afterwards, "Umm...wouldn't that be expensive? I really can't afford
rlm@2 284 that...not that i don't want to, but...." She really didn't know Tomoyo
rlm@2 285 would get so enthusiastic about this project...it was suppose to be a simple
rlm@2 286 picture shoot to show creativity. But the way she was going on, it sounded
rlm@2 287 like she wanted to open a photo studio.
rlm@2 288
rlm@2 289 "Ummm...perfect?" A sweat drop ran down her forehead, "I don't know if I'd
rlm@2 290 say perfect...I'm just..."
rlm@2 291
rlm@2 292 Rika final said something after quietly listening to the conversation, "Oh,
rlm@2 293 I don't know Sakura-chan. Perhaps you could be a model? I think you should
rlm@2 294 give it a try." The green eyed girl looked at Rika with abit of surprise,
rlm@2 295 "You choose NOW to say something?" Rika giggled and then went back to her
rlm@2 296 gazing lovingly at Terada Sensei.
rlm@2 297
rlm@2 298 "You're perfect." Tomoyo's voice was confident. "Don't worry about supplies.
rlm@2 299 I can get them. Okaa-san doesn't mind funding my hobbies, so long as I
rlm@2 300 complete them." She smiled at the girl, both hands on her cheeks, reddening
rlm@2 301 as costume ideas flooded her mind. "Oh! I can see you in sooooooooo many
rlm@2 302 different things! Sakura-chan at the aquarium! Sakura-chan at the beach! Ah,
rlm@2 303 this'll be fun! School is wonderful!! It'll be just so absolutely perfectly
rlm@2 304 KAWAII!!"
rlm@2 305
rlm@2 306 "Erm, Tomoyo-san--" Naoko was beginning to think this girl was more
rlm@2 307 obsessive then herself, in about three minutes of knowing her. What had
rlm@2 308 happened to the quiet girl of about two minutes ago?
rlm@2 309 "Sakura-chan will make a wonderful model! Even her ears are adorable!"
rlm@2 310
rlm@2 311 Instinctually Sakura covered her ears, "My ears?...a...adorable?" The poor
rlm@2 312 girl was now getting out right embarrassed as some of the other students
rlm@2 313 were catching wind of this little talk, and more notes were being passed
rlm@2 314 around the classroom. Kinomoto was fully aware what was on those notes too,
rlm@2 315 and this caused her to shy away more so, "I...umm...arigato
rlm@2 316 Tomoyo-chan...domo ...errr...but, don't you think...umm? Don't you think me
rlm@2 317 on the beach, at the aquarium, and...my ears are alittle much?"
rlm@2 318
rlm@2 319 She was beginning to think this new girl was alittle too friendly, though it
rlm@2 320 was incredibly flattering to say the least. Sakura couldn't quite place it,
rlm@2 321 but there was something about Tomoyo that seemed so darn familiar...perhaps
rlm@2 322 it was her face, or her smile, or her voice...but something seemed to dig
rlm@2 323 into Sakura psyche deeply. And the praise she was getting from the girl was
rlm@2 324 making Sakura feel...funny. If it wasn't for the crowds of students
rlm@2 325 near-by...she felt that it wouldn't be that uncomfortable.
rlm@2 326
rlm@2 327 Giggling as the other girl turned red, Tomoyo smiled. This felt familiar,
rlm@2 328 like she'd done so before. She knew this girl, it seemed. And it was hard
rlm@2 329 not to keep hyperventilating on the uber-kawaiiness of Sakura, but she was
rlm@2 330 starting to get weird looks, and that would hardly do. Though she had always
rlm@2 331 been somewhat eccentric, off in her own little world. And the whispering was
rlm@2 332 growing in volume, possibly about her, but that didn't much matter.
rlm@2 333
rlm@2 334 "Gomenasai, Sakura-chan. I guess it's just that you were right, is all." She
rlm@2 335 smiled sweetly, tilting her head so it seemed as if her hair were violet in
rlm@2 336 the light. "We get along swell."
rlm@2 337 Sakura's mouth was partially open as she was looking at Tomoyo in a new
rlm@2 338 light, though somewhat still in shock, "Umm...yeah. Exactly my
rlm@2 339 point...sorta." She then straightened up and looked down at her books,
rlm@2 340 noticing that she's missed the entire last part of the lesson and sighed in
rlm@2 341 grief, "Ohhh, man..."
rlm@2 342
rlm@2 343 Terada Sensei was just wiping off the board and then turned around, "Okay
rlm@2 344 class, now I'm sure that wasn't so bad. I'll expect those papers to be
rlm@2 345 finished by tomorrow, and just a reminder. The photography assignment study
rlm@2 346 is due for next Monday, so I hope that you all have setup partners, and if
rlm@2 347 not, I'll assign partners tomorrow for the remainders of you all." He then
rlm@2 348 brushed off his hands and bowed, "Class dismissed..." He said this just as
rlm@2 349 the bell rang out as if he was timing it in his head.
rlm@2 350
rlm@2 351 Sakura began packing up her books and supplies slowly, still thinking about
rlm@2 352 all of the ideas Tomoyo had stated. And then she smiled to herself,
rlm@2 353 picturing herself wearing the kimono with bright enwrapping dragons and
rlm@2 354 cherry blossoms. "Hmm...that would look nice, I do admit." The rest of the
rlm@2 355 class also began to pack up, making the odd comment of the new girl and her
rlm@2 356 rather vocal expressions towards Kinomoto.
rlm@2 357
rlm@2 358 Smiling as she left, Tomoyo spent what was left of the day thinking about
rlm@2 359 her ideas, and sketching. It'd been a while since she'd done such things,
rlm@2 360 and she was generally cheerful about it. Sakura was in most of her classes,
rlm@2 361 but it didn't take long to get the hang of drawing her, after three periods
rlm@2 362 of staring.
rlm@2 363
rlm@2 364 Now there was just the problem of finding the girl. Standing by the school
rlm@2 365 gates, where a slight breeze lessened the heavy heat of the day, Tomoyo
rlm@2 366 waited for the other girl, watchful.
rlm@2 367 As Sakura left the confines of the school, she stopped to strap on her
rlm@2 368 roller blades on the front steps. And it didn't take her long to throw her
rlm@2 369 school bag over her one shoulder and shoes over her other, "Wow...what an
rlm@2 370 interesting day, and here I thought it would be boring."
rlm@2 371
rlm@2 372 She skated up to the school gates and saw Tomoyo waiting there. "Oh my...was
rlm@2 373 she actually serious about shopping after school?" Sakura hadn't taken her
rlm@2 374 entirely serious before, and even now, thought that maybe Tomoyo just wanted
rlm@2 375 someone to walk home with. "Hi Tomoyo-chan!" She waved as she rolled up to
rlm@2 376 the long haired girl. "Are you waiting for me?"
rlm@2 377
rlm@2 378 "Of course, Sakura-chan!" The raven-haired girl smiled sweetly. "We're going
rlm@2 379 shopping, remember? I still know the way to my favorite craft store, and it
rlm@2 380 should have everything I need. Or is there something else you need to do?"
rlm@2 381 Her brow creased, worried. "I don't want to keep you from getting things
rlm@2 382 done."
rlm@2 383
rlm@2 384 And if she ever should, it would be very, very bad. Doing such a
rlm@2 385 thing...deserved nothing.
rlm@2 386
rlm@2 387 Sakura shook her head, "Nope...it you wanna look around for stuff at the
rlm@2 388 craft store, I'd be glad to go with ya!" A sparkled smile came forth from
rlm@2 389 Sakura as she stopped rolling right at Tomoyo, and then a crack caused her
rlm@2 390 to stumble abit, and had to take a hold of the classmate's shoulder to
rlm@2 391 steady herself, "Errr...sorry about that. Okay...so where to?"
rlm@2 392
rlm@2 393 She was rather surprised...she hardly ever stumbled before on her skates. In
rlm@2 394 fact she was a rather good roller blader, but she figured mistakes happen.
rlm@2 395
rlm@2 396 "It's just across from the Grudenten Cafe. You know of it? It was quite
rlm@2 397 popular last I was here." Tomoyo smiled, steadying her classmate as she
rlm@2 398 looked up slightly, the skates making Sakura taller. "The craft store is
rlm@2 399 small, but it has a good selection." It wasn't as if she were surprised;
rlm@2 400 Sakura had the tendency to be less the graceful at times. But she seemed to
rlm@2 401 be graceful to Tomoyo, almost all the time, just slightly distracted. It was
rlm@2 402 odd, already, that she wasn't.
rlm@2 403
rlm@2 404 Nodding cheerfully, Sakura knew exactly where that was, though never knew
rlm@2 405 there was a craft shop across from it, "Okay..." she began skating at
rlm@2 406 walking speed, sometimes backwards to face Tomoyo directly and other times,
rlm@2 407 just beside the young girl.
rlm@2 408
rlm@2 409 It didn't take the two long to get where they were going, and Sakura found
rlm@2 410 Tomoyo's presence rather soothing, in an odd way. Like they've been friends
rlm@2 411 forever. Without the crowd of the students, Sakura was able to be herself,
rlm@2 412 and didn't mind the raven-haired girl's rather eccentric ways.
