rlm@2 1 Tomoyo Video Diary 4
rlm@2 2 By G. P.
rlm@2 3
rlm@2 4 This is a sequel to the bonus videos released with the Japanese CCS
rlm@2 5 DVD seasons. The first explains how the entire Card Captor Sakura
rlm@2 6 series was a creation and production by Tomoyo, who used her footage
rlm@2 7 of the real Sakura for individual episodes.

rlm@2 13
rlm@2 14 Sakura lay thinking in bed, covered by a fluffy down quilt. Unable
rlm@2 15 to keep her thoughts to herself, the girl whispered softly, "Tomoyo-
rlm@2 16 chan, are you awake?"
rlm@2 17
rlm@2 18 "Hai, Sakura-chan," came the sweet and melodious reply.
rlm@2 19
rlm@2 20 Sakura hesitated a minute, and then asked tentatively, "Tomoyo-chan,
rlm@2 21 um, can I ask you something?"
rlm@2 22
rlm@2 23 "Sakura-chan can ask me anything she likes," the cheery voice
rlm@2 24 answered.
rlm@2 25
rlm@2 26 Sakura rolled over, and saw the dark-haired girl lying on her side,
rlm@2 27 gazing at her with starry eyes. She blushed, as she always did when
rlm@2 28 the girl regarded her with such overwhelming adoration. She tried to
rlm@2 29 calm down and compose her thoughts, but only when she looked away
rlm@2 30 could she continue,
rlm@2 31
rlm@2 32 "Tomoyo-chan, why did you do your series the way you did? I mean,
rlm@2 33 why did you end Card Captor Sakura like that?"
rlm@2 34
rlm@2 35 The voice that replied seemed genuinely puzzled, "Like what, Sakura-
rlm@2 36 chan? I'm sorry, I don't believe I understand."
rlm@2 37
rlm@2 38 Sakura looked at the radiant girl, clad in a charmingly lacey pink
rlm@2 39 and green nightgown. This didn't help her concentration at all, and
rlm@2 40 she spoke in a halting voice,
rlm@2 41
rlm@2 42 "I mean, why did you have me end up with Li-kun like that? The last
rlm@2 43 picture of the manga looked like I was just falling into his arms or
rlm@2 44 something. Or more like I tripped and fell. I know I'm sort of clumsy
rlm@2 45 sometimes, but why Li-kun?"
rlm@2 46
rlm@2 47 Tomoyo smiled brightly as she answered, "Because you looked so cute
rlm@2 48 together."
rlm@2 49
rlm@2 50 "Cute? He's practically scowling in every picture we're in. I think
rlm@2 51 he liked posing even less than I did. Even I can see we'd be a
rlm@2 52 terrible couple. He's always grumpy, doesn't like to talk, and when
rlm@2 53 he does it's just to complain about something. Oh, that would have
rlm@2 54 been a great marriage!” Sakura was wound up and spoke excitedly, “I
rlm@2 55 can see it now: I've spent the whole day fixing up the house,
rlm@2 56 preparing a lovely dinner, and I'm wearing my prettiest dress for him
rlm@2 57 when comes in, plops into a chair, turns on the TV, and yells out,
rlm@2 58 'Beer-u!'"
rlm@2 59
rlm@2 60 Tomoyo giggled, covering her mouth daintily with a slender hand.
rlm@2 61 With undimmed enthusiasm she replied, "But it was a maho shoujo
rlm@2 62 story. I had to have a happy ending for my pretty Cardmistress."
rlm@2 63
rlm@2 64 Sakura stared in disbelief, "Happy ending? What kind of happy ending
rlm@2 65 was that? What's happy about me being stuck with Li-kun? At least you
rlm@2 66 could have given me Yukito-san." At that, Sakura's cheek colored
rlm@2 67 crimson, which brightened Tomoyo's ever-present smile even more.
rlm@2 68 Tomoyo suddenly looked thoughtful, as if reviewing a complex
rlm@2 69 mathematical equation,
rlm@2 70
rlm@2 71 "But then poor Touya would have been all alone. And he worked so
rlm@2 72 hard at all those jobs, and he really was a wonderful brother, even
rlm@2 73 if he did tease my precious Sakura-chan sometimes."
rlm@2 74
rlm@2 75 Sakura's fist shook in helpless rage and a vein popped on her
rlm@2 76 forehead as she recalled the sweet memories of childhood, "Sometimes?
rlm@2 77 Grrrrrrr. All my life it was, 'Hey, monster. What are you doing,
rlm@2 78 monster? Did you ruin supper again, monster?'” Calming down a bit she
rlm@2 79 asked, “Well, why not Mizuki-sensei? Why didn't he end up with her?"
rlm@2 80
rlm@2 81 She was aware of Tomoyo's giggling again as her blood pressure
rlm@2 82 gradually returned to normal. The pale girl smiled again and replied,
rlm@2 83
rlm@2 84 "But what about poor Eriol-kun? He'd been waiting for a special
rlm@2 85 someone for hundreds of years. It just seemed too sad to leave him
rlm@2 86 all alone at the end."
rlm@2 87
rlm@2 88 Sakura thought about this in silence. Eriol-kun was far too
rlm@2 89 manipulative for her liking, but she couldn't argue with Tomoyo's
rlm@2 90 sense of the dramatic. In a rueful voice she noted,
rlm@2 91
rlm@2 92 "Well, at least Mizuki-sensei was closer to his age. Not like those
rlm@2 93 awful doujinshi you showed me."
rlm@2 94
rlm@2 95 Tomoyo laughed out loud at the disapproval in the genki girl's
rlm@2 96 voice. In a bubbly tone she asked innocently, "You don't believe he
rlm@2 97 and I made a good couple? We are both dark-haired and pale, so we
rlm@2 98 looked very nice together, don't you think?"
rlm@2 99
rlm@2 100 Sakura practically exploded, "Tomoyo-chan, it was awful! You and
rlm@2 101 Eriol would be horrible together. The whole idea is just, just
rlm@2 102 stupid. What kind of crazy people write those things, anyway?"
rlm@2 103
rlm@2 104 Tomoyo looked thoughtful again as she spoke in her musical voice, "I
rlm@2 105 suppose you're right. I mean, we are both sort of eccentric, but I
rlm@2 106 don't guess I have a thing for older men. Especially when they are
rlm@2 107 really, really, really, older." At this Tomoyo burst out in a fresh
rlm@2 108 gale of giggling, and Sakura restrained the urge to toss a pillow her
rlm@2 109 way. She also realized how gloriously happy the girl's laughter made
rlm@2 110 her feel.
rlm@2 111
rlm@2 112 "I don't remember you having much of a thing for really, really
rlm@2 113 young men, either," Sakura teased. She looked at those breathtaking
rlm@2 114 azure eyes that regarded her now with such love and affection.
rlm@2 115 Suddenly, the auburn-haired girl turned serious as she spoke,
rlm@2 116
rlm@2 117 "Besides, what kind of happy ending is it when Tomoyo-chan is all
rlm@2 118 alone? It's like you just faded away, and I never even knew. I was
rlm@2 119 crying at the end. I didn't like it. I would never let that happen.
rlm@2 120 Never."
rlm@2 121
rlm@2 122 Tomoyo reached out and softly caressed the satin-smooth cheek of the
rlm@2 123 girl beside her. Her fingers played with the silky, cinnamon hair
rlm@2 124 that sparkled in the glow of their little Kero-chan nightlight. She
rlm@2 125 saw the tears, more precious than diamonds, glittering at the corners
rlm@2 126 of those wide, emerald eyes. Tomoyo's voice was sweetly reassuring,
rlm@2 127 like a mother comforting a child awakening from a bad dream,
rlm@2 128
rlm@2 129 "I'd never want to make my Sakura-chan sad. I'm so sorry if I did.
rlm@2 130 But stories should be like that, don't you think? Happy-sad, I mean.
rlm@2 131 Otherwise it just doesn't seem right. Besides, I did get a happy
rlm@2 132 ending. I have Sakura-chan, who makes me happier than anything else
rlm@2 133 in the whole world."
rlm@2 134
rlm@2 135 Sakura smiled through her tears, and felt a breathless rush as the
rlm@2 136 pale girl leaned towards her. The lavender hair fell in a scented
rlm@2 137 cascade, like a waterfall of petals that tickled her bare shoulders.
rlm@2 138 Sakura closed her eyes, her heart throbbing wildly. After an
rlm@2 139 exquisitely long pause, she felt the brush of those feathery soft
rlm@2 140 lips. She trembled as Tomoyo kissed her, a slow, voluptuous kiss that
rlm@2 141 sweetly shook her heart and aroused her awakening senses. She opened
rlm@2 142 her eyes and saw the luminous face above her, lips glistening wetly.
rlm@2 143 In a tremulous voice she whispered,
rlm@2 144
rlm@2 145 “As long as you have a happy ending , too. Then it’s all right.”
rlm@2 146
rlm@2 147 Tomoyo gazed silently at the lithesome form below her, and murmured
rlm@2 148 liltingly, “Kisses always make for a happy ending. And happy
rlm@2 149 beginnings, too.”
rlm@2 150
rlm@2 151 With that, she fell into the gentle arms of her beloved Sakura-chan.
